As stated above to control smoking people use chewing gum. But someone may have a habit of using chewing gum regularly. There may be a condition caused due to continuously chewing the gum. It is called as Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TJD). This is a jaw joint based problem. People may have pain in the jaw joints or towards the head. Chewing gum also causes headache in the teens. Sometimes if you have any fillings in the teeth, like mercury, the chewing gum may release the mercury from the fillings. Sometimes people have gastrointestinal problems. The brain gives an indication that food is ready for digestion, but actually, nothing is sent to the stomach. But the acids for digestion will be produced while chewing. This is will end to stomachache and other gastrointestinal problems.
