Teeth Bleaching - Home Remedies

Teeth bleaching
Teeth bleaching is a process that lightens teeth and helps to eliminate discolouration and remove stains. It is also known as teeth whitening. Teeth whitening is very important as it can improve the look of your teeth. And hence it is the most popular dental procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Teeth bleaching cannot be done as a single procedure. It will need to repeat from time to time to maintain the bright colour. Otherwise, after a period the bright white colour will fade off.

The outer layer of a tooth called enamel is reflecting and scattering the light. The natural colour of your teeth is created by the colour of dentine combined with the reflection of enamel. The thickness and smoothness of enamel are different in each person. Thinner enamel will show more dentine and hence your teeth will show a yellowish colour. When the enamel is too thick or smooth, that will also affect the colour of your teeth as it will affect the reflection of light.   A thin coating called pellicle is forming on the enamel of teeth every day. Sometimes enamel gets stains also as it contains pores where stains can easily hold.

If you are aware of your teeth's health and appearance, avoid the common reasons for getting your teeth yellow. Avoid the use of tobacco and drinking strong or dark coloured liquids such as coffee, cola, tea, red wine etc. Aging can also make teeth less bright as the enamel of teeth gets more thinner and the dentine under the enamel becomes more darker yellow due to ageing. This reflects more yellow than white/bright colour.
