Instructions for the aftercare for Dental Implant Surgery
1. Numbness:
Your jaw, cheek, tongue, and lip may be numb for up to twelve hours after surgery. Therefore it's better to avoid biting at the surgical site.
2. Disturbing the area of surgery:
The first stages of healing are aided by the placing tissues at rest. Avoid vigorous chewing and rinsing which causes delayed healing, bleeding or infection. You may brush your teeth, the first day, except at the surgical site. Avoid aerobic exercise for 3-5 days after surgery.
3. Driving Vehicles:
Do not drive an automobile or attempt any dangerous tasks for 24 hours after surgery if you have sedation or are taking pain medicine.
4. Daily Drugs:
Do not stop taking the necessary medicines prescribed by your doctor for diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc
5. Stitches
The other name of the stitch is sutures. Stitches are usually used for bleeding control, healing aid and positioning of tissue.
6. Smoking
Do you have a habit of smoking? Avoid smoking completely for fast healing. Smoking may slow the process of healing and may also lead to an implant failure for bone fusion. Do not smoke by putting gauze on the surgical site, this will only concentrate on hazardous substances to heal and make the problem worse.
7. Diet
It is important to drink fluids to avoid dehydration. Good nutrition must be maintained after oral surgery. Food selection is according to your choice.
Some suggestions are:
For the first day after surgery drink liquids only. Start with cool clear liquids first few hours. In advance, the temperature of your choice with clear or full liquids. From days 2 to 5, cool or warm foods that require little chewing. A proper and nutritious diet is important for easily healing and keeping healthy.
