Dental x ray a type of image of the teeth and mouth. X- rays are a form of high energy electromagnetic radiation. The X rays penetrate the body to form an image on film or screen.

There are two types of dental X- rays : Intraoral and Extraoral. Intraoral X- rays are the most common type of X- rays.

How Dental X- rays work?

When the X- rays pass through the mouth, the teeth and bones absorb more of the ray than the gums and soft tissues, so the teeth appear lighter on the final X- ray image. Areas of tooth decay and infection look darker because they don't absorb as much of the X ray.


Side effects of Dental X rays:

Repeated exposure could also increase cancer risk. Exposure to dental X- rays is associated with potential risk of cancer., which is revealed in previous studies.
